Austria

Although world famous for winter sports, Austria offers many more outdoor activities and our favorite sport is just one of them. It's in fact the kind of country where cycle tourists of all physical levels can find an ideal place to spend their holiday.

Rich in history and culture, the land of Mozart and Beethoven is a kind of interface between Western and Eastern Europe. For the more avid cyclists the Austrian alps are not only a challenge, but also synonymous with breathtaking landscapes.

The beginners or older folks may enjoy cruising alongside the Danube river, a classic among Europe's cycle touring routes. You could then explore Steiermark and Kärnten, the countries riviera to the South, as well as the Eastern region famous for its wine or the Neusiedler Lake located at the Hungarian border.

All those who are into cycling and culture traveling in Austria on a bike can be a revelation, wether it's for either one of their passions. Many Europeans, but also people from overseas, travel to Austria in order to attend one of the famous yodel festivals; a classic way to chill out for a night.

The Austrians are very helpful and kind people; most people speak at least a little English which is compulsory in school.

All standards in Austria, in particular medical and hygiene, are first class. Things are usually well organised and functional which makes it a place easy to travel.
